What County Am I In?
Tap Use my location to see which county you're in right now. You can also type a street address, a ZIP Code, or coordinates. Answers come from the U.S. Census Bureau's official boundary data.
Looking up a specific street address or home near a county line? Use our dedicated Address-to-County Lookup for an exact street-level match.
How this county finder works
When you share your location, your browser sends your coordinates to the U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder, which checks them against the official county boundaries. The same lookup tells us your city or town, your ZIP Code area, your congressional and state legislative districts, and your school district, so you get everything in one answer.
Typing a street address works the same way, except the Census Bureau first finds the address on its map. If you only know a ZIP Code, we use the Census ZIP Code area file to show every county that ZIP Code touches.
What you'll see
- Your county (or parish, borough, or independent city) and its FIPS code, with a button to copy it for a form.
- Your city or place, township, ZIP Code area, congressional district, state legislative districts, and school district.
- The county seat and a link to the official county website, when available.
- A map of the county boundary and a link to open your location in Google Maps.
Near a county line?
Phone GPS is usually accurate to within a few dozen feet, but laptops and desktops often guess your location from Wi-Fi or your internet connection. If more than one county falls inside your location's margin of error, we say so and list each county. For an exact answer near a county line, enter your street address instead.
